Exceptional single-origin Kenyan green coffee.
Since 1928, Karunguru Coffee Estate has been the guardian of Kenya’s finest coffee heritage.
Our coffee is more than a crop; it is a chronicle of the land.
At Karunguru, our story is written in the deep red soil of Kiambu, where coffee trees have thrived for nearly a hundred years. As a fourth-generation family estate, we blend the wisdom of the past with the precision of modern agronomy to produce single-origin coffee of uncompromising quality.
Since 1928, our coffee has been known for its vibrant acidity and fruity notes that give a smooth finish, a hallmark of expertly cultivated Kenyan Arabica.
Whether you are a roaster seeking the perfect Kenya Arabica Coffee blends or a traveler seeking the soul of the bean, welcome home.
A century of exceptional coffee farming
The Beginning
The land that would become Karunguru Estate was first established as The Ridge Estate, a pioneering coffee farm founded in the early 1920s by George James Glassford, a World War I veteran who arrived in Kenya from New Zealand in 1919.
Establishment
The coffee trees of Karunguru were taking root, producing beans even through the global depression when many other commodities faltered.
A Legacy Reborn
The Kariithi family takes stewardship under our patriarch and founder, Geoffrey Karekia Kariithi, transforming the estate from a colonial farm into a beacon of indigenous excellence.

The Single Estate Difference
We do not aggregate; we cultivate.
Unlike the cooperative model, where beans from thousands of farms are mixed, Karunguru offers a single-estate guarantee. Every bean was grown, pulped, fermented, and dried on our 300 acres.
Our process from seed to parchment to green bean upholds traceability and quality at every step. We control the variables, so you can control the roast.
